Services | Pipeline Security
Engineering - Procurement - Construction Management - Total Project Management

A significant portion of our client base has begun the process of identifying external risks to the physical security of their installations. In the case of hydrocarbon carrying pipelines, a high vulnerability area is the exposed portion of the pipeline aerial crossing. Due to their high visibility, these pipelines are subject to dangerous acts of vandalism and potentially terrorism.

In a typical project, Bayside will review the pipeline alignment to identify the areas of risk (i.e. exposed aerial crossings). In consultation, Bayside will evaluate the levels of risk and assess probability of vandalism and/or terrorism. For each scenario, various mitigation options will be considered (i.e. armor pipeline, camouflage pipeline, limiting access to area with fencing, visual barrier). A level of protection will be chosen which reflects the level of credible risks, balanced against the associated costs of mitigation. Bayside will prepare detailed engineering calculations and drawings to implement the selected type of mitigation.

Due to the sensitive nature of the subject, additional information is no longer available on this web site. If you would like to discuss your particular installation, please contact Ernie MacQuarrie, P.E.      ernie@baysideeng.com      (360) 354-7980
